Risk indicator

The 1 to 7 rating every managed fund in New Zealand has to show, reflecting how much the value of the fund's assets goes up and down. It is worked out from the volatility of weekly returns over the previous five years, and the regulations require the fund to say that even the lowest category is not a risk-free investment.
