Schedule method and formula method

The two ways New Zealand taxes a lump sum out of a foreign retirement scheme once the four year window at the start of your tax residence is up. The schedule method is the default and taxes a fraction of the lump sum, growing the longer you have been resident. The formula method taxes your actual gains instead, and Inland Revenue recommend professional advice for it.
