Special Category visa

The visa a New Zealand citizen is normally granted on arriving in Australia on a New Zealand passport, with no application in advance. It lets you stay indefinitely and work without restriction. For social security only a protected holder is an Australian resident under Australia's own rules, and everyone else claims through the Agreement with New Zealand instead.
