Windfall Elimination Provision

A rule that used to cut United States Social Security for someone who also received a pension from work that had not paid into the US system. Its companion, the Government Pension Offset, did a similar thing to spousal and survivor benefits. Both were repealed on 5 January 2025, for benefits payable for months after December 2023.
